| Posted: 13 May 2011 01:29 PM PDT in Putrajaya is known in Bahasa Malaysia as 'Istana Kehakiman'. 'Kehakiman' when translated into English should be 'Judiciary'. 'Justice' in Bahasa Malaysia should be 'Keadilan'. So the correct translation should have been 'Istana Keadilan' which is a definite 'No-no' for Umno because it would glorify its main opponent, Parti Keadilan Rakyat or PKR, and better known simply as 'Keadilan'; of which Anwar Ibrahim, the persecuted, is de facto leader and his wife, Wan Azizah is President. Another quirky fact is 'UMNO' which is Malaysia's largest political party. Its relevance is in championing the special rights of the Malay race; their religion, Islam; and their language, Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Malaysia (Malaysia's national language). It is ironic that the party is better known as UMNO, initials of its English name, United Malays National Organisation, rather than PKMB, initials of its Malay name, Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Bersatu! I am sure even Umno members would wonder when asked about PKMB. Link |
| Commenting in news portals and blogsites Posted: 13 May 2011 01:29 PM PDT and getting varying responses. Just commented in malaysiandigest.com and this is what was shown... "Please include Rosmah for Putrajaya cons[censored]uency, a sure win, for her to kick-start life as a politician in her own right. Let's see the reaction from Tengku Adnan and other Umno members." I am puzzled how the word 'constituency' has 'censored' in brackets within it. Does it give the impression I put in an obscene or objectionable word which was censored? It appears to me and I wonder why. While I am at this, I wish to say that as I put in comments in various news portals and blogsites, I am disappointed when some of my comments did not appear. This could be due to censorship by the administrator or blog owner concerned but it defeats the purpose of having a facility which basically invites comments and yet refuses to publish them. I can understand if it involves spams and malicious comments which I would censor in my own blog too. But different opinions or even out of point comments will only reflect on me, not the portal or blog owner. I have come to the conclusion that there is no real freedom of expression and as a blogger, it is better to comment in my own blog though it means less exposure as compared with a well known news portal. | Never ass-u-me men understand... Posted: 13 May 2011 01:29 PM PDT A woman was in a coma. She had been in it for months. Nurses were in her room giving her a bed bath. One of them was washing her private area and noticed that there was a slight response on the monitor whenever she touched her there. They tried it again and sure enough, there was definite movement. They went to her husband and explained what happened, telling him, 'As crazy as this sounds, maybe a little '0ral sex' will do the trick & bring her out of the coma.' The husband was sceptical, but they assured him that they would close the curtains for privacy.. The husband finally agreed and went into his wife's room. After a few minutes the woman's monitor flat lined, no pulse, no heart rate. The nurses run back into the room. 'What happened?' they cried. |
| Posted: 13 May 2011 01:46 PM PDT SICK OF MY DIET POSTS YET!!??? I'm fucking sick of it already AHAHAHAHA there's only so much motivation one can receive and give, and most importantly is yourself. The only thing standing in your way is YOURSELF. I can't help you unless YOU give in and do it. I am no fairy godmother! ************************************************** Random pictures of one of my last days in Melbourne. A place I hold so so closely to my heart. Till this day, this minute, this second, it still beats for Melbourne. I was running through some pictures while picking which to upload, I realise 80% of the pictures are food pictures! haha It's a place I found true friendship, a place I found solace, a place I found myself. Probably the 2 years of living there is sort of a "finding myself" moment (while struggling with homework and shit). I've changed so so much since then, lost so much, gained much more. A place where having coffee alone won't be seen as weird, a place where young punks think they are they best just cause they have blonde hair and blue eyes. A place where ABCs are so frigging hot you just wanna do whatever notty things you can think about LOL. I miss my life back in Melbourne. But I find that, there are so so much more things that I can do when I'm back in Malaysia. Hence the decision to come back. On a happier note my ex... wait for it.. HOUSEMATE is visiting me for the weekends!!! :D HAPPY TIMES!!!! God, Nancy made my life in Melbourne so much more bearable and times like these you cannot thank someone enough but to sacrifice your diet and EAT with her hehehehehe We're talking about chocolate coated strawberries, nasi lemak, and whatever that KL's famous for! ^_^ |
| Posted: 13 May 2011 01:46 PM PDT You guys are truly amazing!!! I can only thank you all so much, words can not describe the joy I'm experiencing, but I appreciate every single comment that you took the effort to write to me. Thank you!!!!! The compliments, the advices, the encouragements, meant a lot to me, at this sorta hard time (that I'm enjoying every moment of it haha) I'm going through right now! This gave me even more motivation and courage and work even harder towards my goal. :) You set a goal, you achieve it. Simple as that, finish what you started. =D ****************************************************** I read a comment from my previous post on my carrot ring and hahahahaha I LOL-ed!!!! "my bf pointed out that you have a ONE CARROT (CARAT) ring :P hahahaha" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CARROT CAKE!!! I have been craving for cakes for the longest time and so I decided to make one myself!! Complete with frosting and two thick layers of cinnamon carrot goodness. Mmmmmmmmmm.... I halved the recipe I got here and tweak it a little here and there. I added 100 grams less sugar (Oh lord) and it tasted even better!!! I wonder how it'll taste like if I used the full recipe =/ Fact: Did you know that adding cinnamon will sorta reduce your cravings? I dunno what they have inside but I read it somewhere saying that if you have like slices of apples and add a dash of cinnamon powder, you'll crave less. yeay. ps: I still need to work on frosting a cake. But that's just cause I was super kiam with my cream cheese, damn exp in KL ok! And I added a lot less butter and icing sugar into my frosting, instead I added more lemon juice, and top it off with some lemon zest. Best thing ever since, lemon curd hehehe :P |

| What Have You Done For Your Mother? Posted: 13 May 2011 09:49 AM PDT ![]() While I was writing the post about Man Who Cooks, suddenly, I recalled some recipes that I learned from my mother when she was still in the hospital. When my mother was diagnosed with kidney failure, she was hospitalised for so many weeks that for the first two weeks, I felt so useless for being unable to do anything to relieve her pain both mentally and physically. My father on the other hand, will visit her everyday with the food he bought but sometimes, he has no time to buy. As you know, how long can you bear with the food from the hospital which tastes bland? Therefore, I decided to cook something for my Mum but unfortunately, I don't know how. In my next visit, I asked her how to make soup, steam a fish, and many more so that I could cook for her to eat. She has been cooking for us all these years and this is the least I could do for her. (OMG! Tears are flowing down as I am recalling those days) Each time I visit her, I would ask and write down the recipe. Then, I would go to the supermarket to buy the ingredients and try to cook the dishes. She would be so happy waiting eagerly for the food I cooked for her. At that moment, I finally understand on why my mother used to say that she will be happy when she hears praises from people who eats her food and all the sweats and tiredness would be gone and her effort would be recognized. I felt the same way when she told me the food I cooked is nice and she likes it. It makes me happy when she's happy. There's one day when she told me she wanted to eat this chicken marinated in a special sauce that she invented which in another word, a secret recipe. Hahahaha!!! This time, I didn't write down the recipe for she asked me to memorize it in my head. The next day, I brought the chicken I made using her recipe and she was so delighted that she told her new friends at the ward that her son cooked this for her. She said, "Wow! It tastes better than mine." I'm sure it's a compliment because how could my first time tastes better than her many years of experience? Anyway, that's the least I did for my Mum. |
| Posted: 13 May 2011 07:25 AM PDT Meet Johan Farid Khairuddin.
Otherwise known as JFK. You may have heard him on the radio, giving out Justin Bieber concert tickets and such. Whether it's talking on the air, producing albums or hosting TV shows on Astro, being a media personality is really what defines JFK for the past ten years. What most people probably don't realise is that being a radio host is only his part-time job. Like me, what we do part-time for fun has somehow eclipsed what we do full-time for a living. JFK's actual full-time job... is a TAXI DRIVER.
No lah! Not the ones you see hanging around KLCC charging RM30 for a 3-minute journey because "bradderrrr, road very jam woh." No no no. The cab that JFK drives will never encounter traffic jam at any hour of the day. Because the vehicle JFK drives is...
... an airplane. *cue Hayley Williams and B.o.B.* Just like how blogging is and will always remain a hobby for me, flying is a hobby that JFK takes very seriously. So serious in fact, that instead of flying commercially for Malaysia Airlines or AirAsia, he saved up whatever money he has to purchase his very own aeroplane.
And now that JFK is a pilot-for-hire, his job is to take people on trips across the Peninsular, or on private sky tours around KL for as little as RM500 - just enough to cover his fuel and maintenance of his flight. During one of my trips to KL recently, JFK took me for a whirl up in the air to see what KL City is like from the skies above.
We met at Subang SkyPark around 7:30am. The airport isn't the same since the main international airport was moved to KLIA. The huge terminal is now virtually empty with mostly private jets owned by billionaires.
Or wannabe billionaires. I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad. :( Subang Airport has no queues, no annoying kids, no noisy announcers blaring over the speakers. Security was such a breeze that for the first time in my life, I saw airport security actually have the capability to smile.
After some gibberish back-and-forth between JFK and the air traffic control, we're off!
Most of us are used to sitting in the backseat of a passenger plane. But to take the front seat of a Cessna with a radio personality next to you piloting the flight, pointing out different points of interests into your earphones - man, that's a completely different experience altogether.
With the bumper-to-bumper traffic along Federal Highway snaking beneath us, an indescribable feeling washed over me. I think it's called... freedom. ;) At one point, JFK allowed me to take over the co-pilot's control.
A lot of people have irrational fear when it comes to flying, let alone piloting an airplane. As scary as it sounds, I actually felt extremely safe manoeuvring the Cessna. The tiny aircraft is extremely responsive, and without any obstacles in the way, I need not worry about traffic lights, knocking into a divider and scratching my bumper. In fact, it felt exactly like driving a car. Except there was no brakes. You don't need brakes when you're flying in the air. Just like that, we went from Subang to KLCC Twin Towers in less than 10 minutes. And that's the closest I have ever been to Twin Tower on an airplane without being labelled a terrorist. It's easy to write KL off as an overly-congested metropolis when you view it from the ground. From the sky though, the view of the silhouette of the bustling city being enveloped by the morning mist is hopelessly romantic. Made me wish I was next to my loved ones when I was up in the air. Yeah. That's the only downside with JFK's private sky tour. He may not look like Amber Chia, but there isn't a better valued private airplane pilot in the county. If you wanna book a flight with JFK as your taxi-driver-in-the-sky, just e-mail him at jfk@hitz.fm
I promise he won't say, "Cannot use meter lah bradder. Traffic jam!" |
| How Lamborghini Aventador Put Together, Piece-by-Piece Posted: 12 May 2011 10:10 PM PDT After Diablo and Murcielago, Lamborghini introduced Aventador LP700-4 at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show on Mar 1. Before you can make that call to book a unit, the Aventador which goes into production in the second half of 2011 has already sold out more than 12 months production, of which he deliveries start in the second half of 2011. The new Bull God, which according to its CEO is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology has a limited production of only 4,000 units. Lamborghini decided to name its new flagship "Aventador", the name of a bull that entered into battle on October 1993 at the Saragossa Arena, earning the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" for its outstanding courage (*whoa*). Prices for the 700hp V12 Lamborghini Aventador start at $ 356,000, including a $ 2,000 destination charge. With a gas-guzzler tax, final pricing will reach close to $ 380,000. The first customer will take delivery of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in late summer 2011. Lamborghini Aventador packed with unique technology – innovative monocoque made from carbon-fiber that combines exceptional lightweight engineering with the highest levels of stiffness and safety. Thanks to a dry weight of only 1,575 kilograms (3,472 lb), which is extremely low for this class of vehicle, the weight-to-power ratio stands at only 2.25 kilograms per hp (4.96 lb/hp). With 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in just 2.9 seconds and the top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), this is not a normal beast for the weak of heart. The ISR transmission is unique, guaranteeing the fastest shifting time (only 50 milliseconds) and a highly emotional shift feel. The expressively-designed interior offers hi-tech features ranging from the TFT cockpit display with Drive Select Mode system. Somehow Lamborghini has that distinguishable exterior design and you can't mistaken this new supercar as the Lamborghini from afar. It's a sculpture of an art. Aventador has a full monocoque – the entire occupant cell, with tub and roof, is one single physical component. Now, watch (if you have not already done so) how this Bull was put together, piece-by-piece when Aventador was scheduled for display inside the "Chiostro del Bramante," a contemporary art museum located in the historical center of Rome. As the museum wasn't built with anticipation that one fine day it would host a "La Forza del Toro" (that's Italian for "The Force of the Bull"), engineers had to squeeze and assemble the raging bull piece-by-piece inside the exhibition hall. Now, that's an art. Other Articles That May Interest You …
